&Osteoarthritis=Osteoarthritis, also known as degenerative arthritis, is a type of arthritis that is caused by the breakdown and eventual loss of the cartilage of one or more joints.  When the first MTP is involved the bony prominence is also known as a bunion. There is not usually any associated swelling. There may be decreased ROM of the great toe and gait can be affected.
