&Rheumatoid Arthritis=Rheumatoid Arthritis is an inflammatory arthritis commonly presenting as a symmetric polyarthritis with significant morning stiffness. The presentation of RA is variable. Typically patients present with an insidious onset of symmetric joint pain, swelling and morning stiffness of greater than one hour with worsening over several weeks. The most commonly involved joints include the MCPs, MTPs, PIPs and wrists. Large joints can also be involved and include the shoulders, knees, ankles and elbows. On physical exam, active synovitis is characterized by warmth, swelling, pain and tenderness. A palpable effusion may also be present. Range of motion is often limited in joints with significant effusions and pain. X-rays show periarticular osteopenia with erosions and joint space narrowing.
